Four of the top entrants from the Porsche Carrera Cup of Great Britain in 2014 are set to contest the British round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the iconic Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire this weekend.
Josh Webster is the current Carrera Cup GB championship leader and heads into this one-off outing on a high, following a weekend at Croft where he stormed not only to a double victory but also into the series lead.
The youngster will be the most acclimatised to the unique atmosphere of one of Britain’s halcyon Motor Sport events, having been a part of the GP Weekend with the GP3 Series in 2013.
His Carrera Cup GB outfit Redline Racing will run the Porsche Scholarship driver this weekend. He told Autosport Magazine, “We have been working on it for the last month or so and we have finally got there. It was amazing last year and it is a dream come true to do it again.”
Alongside Webster in the Redline Racing stable is Kelvin Fletcher, the Emmerdale actor who has shown great tenacity in his debut season in Carrera Cup GB. Graeme Mundy has made sporadic appearances thus far in 2014 for In2Racing and will do well to stay out of any drama among the large Supercup field. Karl Leonard of Team Parker Racing is the only entrant among the quartet to have previously contested a round of the Supercup and could do well if he can put that extra knowledge to good use this weekend.
