Martin Cao took his second consecutive win of the day after a dominant performance in race two of the Cooper Tyres British F3 from Thruxton.
In a race much less dramatic than the preceeding event, Cao ran riot around the swooping bends of Thruxton, on a drying track after earlier rainfall.
Much of Cao’s dominance was owed to set-up, with the Chinese driver and Fortec Motorsport opting for a higher downforce set-up as the track dried, enabling the combination to pull out a lead over the likes of Matt Rao and Carlin’s Lhi Zhi Cong in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
As the race wore on Cao’s advantage began to dim, with the chasing pack, complete with dry weather set-ups, hunting down the leader out front. However, the real fight was for 2nd place, with Rao withstanding immense pressure in the latter stages of the race from Cong.
No-one could deny Cao though, who took his second win of the season, ahead of a resilient Rao in 2nd. The Fortec-duo were followed by Cong in a close 3rd, with Max Marshall and Camren Kaminsky rounding out the field in 4th and 5th.
