The Porsche Carrera Cup of Great Britain will head to a Spa in 2015 but not for rest and relaxation. Instead, expect thrills and spills as the series heads for the first time ever to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps venue in Belgium, for a headline international event.
In a bid to boost grids, the Porsche package has been completely shaken up for next season. Sixteen races over eight rounds, seven of which will be contested on the TOCA package additionally to the aforementioned Spa meeting. The three TOCA meetings absent are Donington Park, Thruxton and Rockingham.
The series kicks off at Brands Hatch on the Indy layout (April 4th and 5th) before joining the World Endurance Championship on the 1st and 2nd of May for two races, one of which will be an extra-long forty five minute special.
Then Oulton Park (6th and 7th of June), Croft (27th and 28th of June), Snetterton (8th and 9th of August) and Knockhill (22nd and 23rd of August) mark a four round burst either side of the TOCA summer break. The penultimate meeting will take place over the 26th and 27th of September at Silverstone and then the final back in Kent at Brands Hatch on the Grand Prix loop.
Additional changes include the boosting of the prize fund offered at all weekends, the introductions of a “Rookie Class” and further end of season prizes.
Now it simply becomes a case of waiting. Porsche GB have done everything they can to ensure the healthy future of one of the UK’s most spectacular series. It remains to be seen whether this pays off.
