WD-40 to back Wales Rally GB entry

1 Mins read

WD-40 have announced they will be joining forces with The Sun newspaper to take on the 2015 Wales Rally GB in November.

The Sun‘s motoring editor Rob Gill will be driving the WD-40 Branded Ford Fiesta R5 rally car in the season closing event of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship.

“It’s great to be working with the iconic WD-40 brand as we have a great deal planned throughout the year for fans of the brand to get involved with the team themselves” said Gill who has experience of the Welsh forests, previously competing in 2007.

“It’s been a while since I last competed on Wales Rally GB, but we have a really great car lined up and support from some great sponsors, I can’t wait for November to come” he added.

WD-40 UK Head of marketing David Whittome added “We are extremely delighted to be working with Rob Gill and The Sun on this project that will see us become part of a team that will take on one of the most challenging events on the world rally calendar.

“The WD-40 brand has long had an association with motorsport and Wales Rally GB is one of the pinnacle events of the year for British motorsport, so it made sense for us to join forces with Rob. We will be doing a number of exciting projects with the car during 2015 that we will be announcing in the coming months.”

In addition to the Wales Rally GB entry it was also announced that WD-40 would be backing County Durham based driver Stephen Petch for the 2015 BTRDA Championship.
