A host of drivers from the 2015 Michelin Clio Cup Series took advantage of the two pre-season test days at Thruxton this week to get some running in ahead of their meeting there in June.
The championship is making its first visit to the Hampshire venue this season, meaning the drivers headed to the pre-season test to get some vital track time in their Race and Road Class Clios, with many tackling the high-speed circuit for the very first time.
Reigning Road Class champions Westbourne Motorsport were in action with cars from both classes, led by multiple Race Series race-winner Luke Herbert and fellow front-runner Sam Randon on Thursday.
Unfortunately for Herbert, his days running on Thursday ended in the second session when an off at Village ended with a big collision with the marshals post, causing substantial damage to his SRC Recycling-backed car.
For fellow Westbourne runners James Dorlin and Ben Colburn it was a much more stress-free affair, with the two Junior Saloon Car Championship graduates getting used to Race Series and Road Series Clios respectively.
20Ten Racing were out in force too, with Tom Barley experiencing the 2.3 mile circuit for the first time on Thursday in his newly-liveried, IG-backed third generation Clio.
Brett Lidsey campaigned his Race Series Clio on Wednesday with the team, while his brother Tyler Lidsey joined him in his converted Clio Renaultsport 197 road car.
SV Racing were on track with category newcomer Alex Reed on Wednesday, though he was another to fall victim to the circuit with an off into the barriers at Noble that abruptly ended his track time.
Thruxton will host Rounds Four and Five of the 2015 Michelin Clio Cup Series over the weekend of June 13/14.
