Dan Cammish heads into the showpiece round of the Porsche Carrera Cup of Great Britain at the spectacular Belgian Spa-Francorchamps venue flanked by the Ardennes ready to extend his championship lead.
The Nationwide backed Redline Racing driver, was emphatically dominant at Brands Hatch, taking two victories after besting Team Parker Racing man Stephen Jelley.
For all the drivers in the Carrera Cup GB, the support races to the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa will be vital to impress, with the stunning 919-Hybrid in the LMP1 classification and the GTE version of the 991 Cup car going into battle against some of the world’s finest sports and GT machinery.
“Spa is one of those tracks everyone has heard of, whether they are a race fan or not. No matter how good people said it was, I found the reality was better,” said Cammish.
“It is steeped in history and I enjoy taking in as much of it as possible. It is the best race track I have ever had the privilege of driving at and I am hoping for a good result this weekend.”
Getting ahead of the ex-Formula Ford GB champion this weekend could be vital for the rest to keep their title hopes alive.
You can keep up to date with Dan’s progress and the second round of the series all weekend on The Checkered Flag, with qualifying and race one scheduled for tomorrow, before the second race as a warm-up before round two of the WEC at Saturday
