JRM Confirm Hockenheim WorldRX Debut for Mini RX

1 Mins read

JRM Racing have confirmed that they will make their debut at round two of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship, to be held at Hockenheim on 1-3 May.

The Daventry based squad have confirmed that they will run American drivers Dave Mirra and Danny Way at the event and that both men will pilot MINI ClubmanRX Supercars, entered under the banner of Team USRX. Both drivers recently tested the MINI at the WorldRX Media Day held at Barcelona where JRM Racing confirmed they will take part in a limited programme of events in 2015, ahead of a full championship assault in 2016.

The MINI Clubman RX saw action in December when Rikhu Tahto drove the car in the “Top Gear WorldRX” event that took place at Lydden Hill. However, the team have high hopes for their performance during the 2015 season.

JRM Executive Director, James Rumsey, said: “Dave and Danny watched the development of World RX in 2014 and we’re hugely impressed. They want to be part of the series in the future so Hockenheim is a good event for them to get a feel for the series and our MINI. We hope there will be an opportunity to run them both on more rounds in 2015, with the goal of pulling together a full-season programme in 2016.”

Dave Mirra, who is a former factory Subaru rally driver in the USA and a regular in the Global Rallycross series explained.

“World RX looks awesome and I’m thrilled to get a shot at Hockenheim with JRM Racing. It’s going to be a steep learning curve because the quality of the competition is hot, but I’ve never done anything at less than 100% in my career and I love the MINI RX. I’m hoping we can have a good weekend.”

Danny Way is hoping that good performances in 2015 will lead to a full championship drive in 2016.

“Our goal is to try and put a full programme of events together for 2016, but we need some good World RX experience this year to help take things forward. Hockenheim looks like it’s going to be fantastic and I’m excited to be a part of the action.”

The second round of the 2015 WorldRX season takes place at Hockenheim in a unique double header event alongside the DTM, which has its opening two rounds on the same weekend of 1-3 May.
