Marvin Kirchhöfer has withdrawn from his drive with EuroInternational in the 2015 FIA European Formula 3 Championship so he can concentrate fully on his GP3 Series campaign.
The German driver informed his team via email last Sunday, but no official statement had been released, and his name was included on the entry list for this weekends round of the series at Hockenheim.
However, he has not appeared, and as in Silverstone three weeks ago, EuroInternational are only running the one car for Nicolas Beer.
EuroInternational Team Principal Antonio Ferrari was disappointed with the German’s decision to withdraw, with Kirchhöfer claiming difficulties in adjusting between his F3 and GP3 cars as the reason for leaving the team.
“Nothing personal against Marvin, who has a fantastic talent, but as a team owner I have never heard anything like this,” said Ferrari to Autosport.
“Now we have another setback, and we need to find an alternative. I need somebody fast – I have money for the car; I have sponsorship for it.
“We had 20 guests coming here so this is a very embarrassing situation. I [also] need to give Mercedes a good driver, because they have helped me a lot.”
