Positive Day 2 For Citroen In Argentina

1 Mins read

The Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team enjoyed a mostly positive day two of the XION Rally Argentina 2015, round four of the FIA World Rally Championship. The team ended the day first and second overall.

Kris Meeke answered his critics by setting the pace on the opening day. He ended the leg 2 leading by over a minute despite a broken handbrake and a puncture. The Northern Irishman had to withstand the attacks of Jari Matti Latvala also before the Finn hit trouble.

“We knew that it would be an incredibly difficult day, even the most experienced drivers had problems. For us, on the other hand, the DS 3 WRC was perfect.

“Although the road surface was very rough, I felt really comfortable in the car and the times were good. I just focussed on my own driving. For the time being, everything is going well, so there’s no need to change anything!”

Mads Ostberg also impressed today despite a few setbacks. The Norwegian was hit with an engine issue on the first stage which saw him end the test fourth fastest. For the rest of the day Ostberg was constantly posting times in the top three meaning he ended the day second overall 15 seconds ahead of Latvala.

“We are sticking to the plan we had before the start of the rally. The aim is to drive at our own pace, without taking any risks. It’s great to finish in second position after this difficult first leg. It augurs well for the rest of the rally, especially with our team-mates in front of us. We have to keep going tomorrow.”
