Sloan Urry of TruSpeed Autosport was hoping to take his first GT Cup win of the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge season, with the #02 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup performing strongly all weekend, but the incident-packed Roar by the Shore at Long Beach stopped this from happening for the Utah driver.
Urry started the race from the front row and led the race from the start. He led the lead until the final lap of a race which only saw 7 green flag laps. On the last lap, when trying to get out of the way of faster GT class cars, the #02 car spun and so he finished 5th in class, 37th overall.
“It’s just really frustrating because we’re here to race and we didn’t even really get to do any of that today,” said Urry after the race. “It’s pretty frustrating because there were such big bottlenecks. I had to make a move to get out of the way out of some other people and that ended my race. This race was just dictated by those that were around us today.”
Urry and TruSpeed will be competing once again this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.
