Spectators Injured In Paddon Rally Argentina Crash

1 Mins read

Hyundai Motorsport driver Hayden Paddon was involved in an accident on the XION Rally Argentina, round four of the FIA World Rally Championship, that resulted in six spectators requiring medical treatment. The New Zealander was competing on SS9 when his i20 WRC left the road.

Neither Paddon or his co-driver John Kennard were injured in the accident but six spectators were taken to hospital where their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

“Naturally, our first thoughts go to the spectators who were injured after the #20 Hyundai i20 WRC left the road in SS9.” said Team Principle Michel Nandan,“Thankfully, they have been treated very quickly by the authorities on site. We are in contact with the FIA and rally organisers to determine precisely what happened.”

There was heartbreak for Dani Sordo also. The Spaniard spend day 3 reeling in Jari Matti Latvala for third place before electrical failure halted his progress on the final stage. Thierry Neuville ended the day in fifth place.

Crews will tackle two more stages on the final leg.
