Pirelli World Challenge has announced that drivers who finish on the podium at the PWC Detroit races on May 29-31 will receive record payouts.
The North American GT series, which is going from strength to strength, will feature the GT and GTA classes for two rounds at the street circuit on Belle Isle, in Detroit, MI.
The GT winner will gain $20,000, with the 2nd place driver earning $15,000 and third $10,000. In GTA, the podium finishers will win $10,000, $7,500 and $5,000.
To contend for this will be a 28 car field of cars from 13 different manufacturers, including Cadillac, Bentley, McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Nissan, Acura, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and BMW.
These races will also be aired live on television in the USA, yet again showing the series’ strength at the moment.
“The series is proud to be in a position to be invited to do a live race on CBS Sports Network and to have a great partner like Cadillac as our event sponsor,” said Scott Bove, President and CEO, WC Vision/Pirelli World Challenge. “The live race will be the first in modern day Pirelli World Challenge and the GT/GTA record nearly $70,000 payout will certainly bring excitement to the podium finishers.”
The Pirelli World Challenge Cadillac V Series Challenge at The Raceway at Belle Isle will take place on May 29/31. However, the series will race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend.
