O’Donovan Faces Busy Schedule Ahead

1 Mins read

Team RX Racing driver Ollie O’Donovan faces a busy three weeks ahead of him as he competes in three different consecutive Rallycross events.

The Irishman will stay with his Mk2 Ford Focus for round three of the MSA British Rallycross Championship this weekend, which takes places at Pembrey in Wales. O’Donovan is looking for his first win of the season after taking a podium finish in the opening event at Croft and suffering a turbo issue in the Final at Lydden Hill.

After the BritishRX event, O’Donovan will then debut his new Tony Bardy Motorsport prepared Mk7 Ford Fiesta at Mettet in Belgium for the opening round of the 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship. He will be competing in a full season of the championship as well as his BritishRX challenge. Following that, O’Donovan has confirmed he will join the FIA World Rallycross Championship regulars at Lydden Hill for round four of the series.

O’Donovan is aware of the work ahead for the busy schedule planned.

“We have a really busy few weeks ahead, so we’ve decided to use the Focus at Pembrey, so as not put too much strain on the Fiesta by the time we get to Lydden for the World RX event. I really like Pembrey, I had one of my first proper rallycross race there in the old Peugeot 306, and it’s a track that really suits me,” said the London-based Irishman.

“We made some good steps forward with the development of the Yokohama rallycross tyre at Croft and Lydden, I really want to repay their commitment to our programme by getting a good result at Pembrey.”

However he plans to do some testing in the new Fiesta ahead of his EuroRX debut.

“We will do some running in the Fiesta before Belgium to ensure we are ready. I’m excited to be racing in both the British and European championships this season against some fantastic competition.”
