JRM Racing will make their debut at this weekends WorldRX & DTM double header event as “USRX” fielding a pair of MINI Clubman RX Supercars for American drivers Danny Way and Dave Mirra.
The Daventry based team is preparing for a full assault on the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship by entering selected rounds this year and their preparation gets underway this weekend at Hockenheim. They will join the rest of the WorldRX field this weekend as the drivers and teams learn to get to grips with the new Rallycross layout in the stadium section of the circuit.
James Rumsey, JRM Executive Director, is well aware of the challenge ahead for the team this season.
“The objective in Germany is to learn as much as we can about World RX and our MINI RX,” said Rumsey. “There are no targets because this is our first event with the car and we have to respect the experience of the other teams and drivers. We know we cannot come to our first World RX event and be on the pace straight away. This is a long-term project for us and we need experience before we can be challenging at the front of the World RX grid.”
Rumsey is also hopeful that both drivers will return to “USRX” for more WorldRX outings in 2015.
“Dave and Danny will be with us at Hockenheim because they have seen World RX grow and they’re keen to be involved in the series’ future development. Racing at Hockenheim gives them the chance to sample the MINI RX, look at how the championship is set up and to assess the World RX competition. We are talking to both drivers about tackling some more World RX events with JRM Racing this season and we’re hopeful of taking our relationship forward into 2016.”
A third MINI Clubman RX Supercar will see Rallycross action in 2015 as Riku Takho will be joining the 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship at Mettet in Belgium.
