Arrivabene demands wheelnut redesign following Austria issues

1 Mins read

Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene insists the wheelnut design on the SF15-T needs to be changed in order to prevent a reoccurrence of the problem that cost Sebastian Vettel a certain podium finish in Austria.

Vettel was on course for a third place finish at the Red Bull Ring before the pit stop issue saw him lose out to Felipe Massa, and Arrivabene insists it was unacceptable for it to happen.

“I have to say that Sebastian made a great race,” said Arrivabene. “I have to say Mercedes are still strong.

“But we threw away one more time for a stupid piece that we need to fix as soon as possible. This is not the first time and it is not acceptable.

“It was a problem with the wheelnut. It is not the first time so we have now to make sure that it does not happen again. It was not a problem of the mechanics – it was our problem and we have to make sure that we fix it.”
