Daniel Ricciardo: “We are power limited”

1 Mins read

Daniel Ricciardo continued to be frustrated with his weekend in Canada, as the Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver could only qualify ninth on Saturday.

The 2014 Canadian Grand Prix race winner admitted the team have been compromised by their Renault power units, which are not on par with the Mercedes or Ferrari units of their rivals, with the long straights in particular hurting Ricciardo and team-mate Daniil Kvyat.

“The weekend so far has been tough, we have struggled for most of it,” said Ricciardo. “This is a power circuit and we are power limited.

“We have been trying a few options with the tyres but we couldn’t find a solution that worked which is quite frustrating. We couldn’t get a happy medium.”

Ricciardo feels the team are not making the progress necessary to compete with those ahead of them at present, but knows they are working on solutions to the problems Red Bull are facing.

“We don’t seem to be propelling forward at the moment which is disappointing,” reflected Ricciardo. “We’ll do what we can, the team is working hard and we have to keep pushing.”
