Lewis Hamilton: “This is always one of my favourite weekends”

1 Mins read

After leading the majority of the Monaco Grand Prix, a pit call error by Mercedes AMG PETRONAS and Lewis Hamilton saw the Briton finish in third place behind Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel, but the reigning World Champion is looking forward to putting this behind him as he heads into this weekends Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Hamilton insists he just wants to put the events of Monte Carlo behind him, and wants to come to Montreal and have a successful weekend on a track he admits to enjoying racing on.

“I think everything that needs to be said about Monaco has already been said,” stated Hamilton. “Obviously, it was a huge disappointment for me and also for the team. But we’ll learn from it and move forwards together like we always do.

“I just want to get back out there and bounce back – and I could hardly ask for a better place to do that than Montreal. This is always one of my favourite weekends.”

The reigning World Champion admits to enjoying the city, the atmosphere and the fans, and has won three previous Grand Prix at the circuit, including in his first year in Formula 1 back in 2007.   Hamilton believes that he will have the car beneath him this weekend to be successful and hopefully take him to a fourth triumph.

“The racing is fantastic, the city is a lot of fun and the crowds are really enthusiastic,” added Hamilton.  “I haven’t always had the best of luck in Canada – but I’ve never finished off the podium there either and it’s given me some great memories, including my first win.

“I know I’ve got the car underneath me and the team behind me to do it again, so I’m aiming for nothing less.”
