Lewis Hamilton continued to set the pace at the Hungaroring as he ended the final practice session of the weekend in P1 on Saturday.
The reigning World Champion led a Mercedes AMG PETRONAS 1-2 ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg with just 0.098s separating the two championship contenders.
Both Hamilton and Rosberg suffered lock-ups during the session into the opening turn, while the German’s session ended a few minutes early when his car appeared to turn itself off as Rosberg went to attempt a practice start at the end of the pit lane.
Sebastian Vettel ended the session in third in the leading Scuderia Ferrari, and was the only driver to get within one second of the pace of the Mercedes duo, ending 0.889s back.
Daniil Kvyat continued his strong weekend so far with fourth for Infiniti Red Bull Racing, just ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr of Scuderia Toro Rosso, while Nico Hulkenberg ended the session in sixth for the Sahara Force India team, who made it out onto the track after their issues on Friday that saw them skip FP2.
Max Verstappen was seventh in the second Toro Rosso ahead of Fernando Alonso, who again put his McLaren-Honda into the top ten in eighth, while Daniel Ricciardo had a relatively short session as his Red Bull team try and conserve the lifespan of his one remaining useable engine, finishing ninth.
Romain Grosjean got the better of his Lotus F1 Team team-mate Pastor Maldonado to complete the top ten, while Felipe Massa was a disappointing twelfth in the leading of the Williams Martini Racing drivers, with his team-mate Valtteri Bottas fourteenth behind the second McLaren of Jenson Button.
Sergio Perez was fifteenth in the second Force India a day after his crash in FP1 where he rolled his car after a suspension failure, ahead of the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen, who was the only driver not to get a run on the soft Pirelli tyre after a water leak curtailed his session early.
Felipe Nasr led Marcus Ericsson in the Sauber battle, but the two drivers will be disappointed to be seventeenth and eighteenth, ahead of only the two Manor F1 Team drivers, Will Stevens ahead of Roberto Merhi.
