JRM Announce Canada WorldRX lineup

2 Mins read

JRM Racing have announced their driver lineup ahead of the Canadian round of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship, which will see two new drivers piloting the MINI Clubman RX Supercars.

JRM are taking part in selected rounds of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship whilst developing their MINI Supercars for a full assault on the series in 2016. The car has already seen action in two events this year with Guy Wilks qualifying for the Final at Lydden Hill in May.

Former Patrick Carpentier joins the Daventry based squad, having driven in the 2014 event for Marklund Motorsport, driving one of their Volkswagen Polos to the Semi-Final stages. Carpentier is joined in the second car by NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Both drivers will join the 18 World RX regular drivers and the 8 regular teams at an event that proved to be very popular last year.

Carpentier is looking forward to returning to WorldRX and sampling the MINI Supercar:

“I did the event last year and loved it,” he said. “I have never done much rally driving during my career but when I raced in Indycars I did a lot of training on motocross bikes between races. I see a lot of similarities between that and rallycross, so it’s a sport I certainly feel at home in. I’m looking forward to driving the JRM MINI RX.

“I analyse World RX for Canadian TV and I was pleasantly surprised when the car made the final in the recent UK round. That was really impressive and hopefully we can make the final again in Canada.”

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is looking forward to making his WorldRX debut:

“I haven’t done much rally driving but when I started my career I did some ice racing on some of Canada’s frozen lakes with my father. So to me, going sideways and doing some rally driving is very exciting and I love competing when people are driving very hard. I’m sure I can jump in and make a good job. I know that JRM are working very hard to bring us the best package so that we can do the best job possible. The car seems to be working very well because it has made a final appearance already, so I’m sure it’s going to be a good weekend.”

Team Boss James Rumsey is excited about having both drivers on board for the Canadian event.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in the MINI RX after its strong showing at Lydden Hill and people are seeing that the car is a competitive package in World RX,” he said. “We’re looking forward to working with Patrick and LP – two drivers that have monitored our progress closely this season and know about what the MINI RX can offer.

“We have to remember that Canada will only be our third event in one of the world’s most competitive motorsport championships, but we’re making good progress with our development programme and the feedback that we’re expecting to receive from Patrick and LP during the race weekend will only make us stronger and help our progression.”
