The Porsche Mobil1 Supercup this weekend heads for the Hungaroring, for the fifth race of a topsy turvy 2015 season. Following Michael Ammermüller’s Barcelona based victory for the Lechner Racing Middle East team, Jaap Van Lagen and Christopher Zöchling were victorious after last minute call ups from the Fach Auto Tech squad, in Monte Carlo and Austria respectively. Then at Silverstone last time out, championship leader Philipp Eng finally delivered on his consistency to nab race victory for Team Project 1.
If Eng can deliver back to back victories this weekend, then the title momentum will have swung dramatically in the Austrian’s favour as the series heads into its second half. Yet a victory from one of Alex Riberas (The Heart of Racing by Lechner), Ammermüller or Christian Engelhart from the MRS-GT Racing squad would have to be backed up by further success after the summer break to topple Eng.
After the Carrera Cup GB guest entrants proceeded to cause carnage at Silverstone, a far calmer race can be expected this weekend. Ben Barker and Cameron Twynham are the regular British representatives from MOMO-Megatron TEAM Partrax and both will be aiming to continue their strong run of form, with Barker looking for a third podium of his 2015 campaign.
A last shout out goes to Kuba Giermaziak, who has endured a torrid year so far but the VERVA Lechner Racing Team driver has had great success at the Hungaroring in the past.
