Solberg Keeping To The Plan At Holjes

1 Mins read

SDRX Driver and 2014 FIA World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg is sticking to the plan for round six of this years FIA WorldRX series as he looks to build on his championship lead at Holjes this weekend.

With Solberg’s side of the SDRX team based at Torsby in Sweden, this weekend effectively sees their home round taking place an hour up the road from their base and its an event Solberg is looking forward to. However he is looking to go better than his third place finish in last years final, which also saw the Norwegian driver suffer a puncture in a very exciting finale.

“Whether or not it is the home race, one thing is sure, Holjes is always one of the best events of the year. Last year it was just insane, just super-crazy how many people came to this track and had such a great party! But the result was not so good. We got a puncture, we got third.

“This time I’d love to go two better. I want to win. I always want to win! But here is the problem, do I want to win enough to make a gamble with the championship lead? No. I won’t do that. Like I said, I want to win every race, I am desperate to – especially in front of such a big and really cool crowd. But if we win this weekend, we celebrate for one night; if we win at this season, we celebrate for one year!”

One thing is certainly clear regarding Solberg’s plan for this weekend. He is playing the game this season. He has a plan and he is sticking to that plan to reach his ultimate goal this year.

“Last year I was crowned the first ever FIA World Rallycross Champion, this year I want to be the first man ever to win back-to-back World RX titles. That’s the focus and the whole team feels the same way. We have a strategy for Sweden and we will stick to it. I’m not going to tell you what it is, but you know me – it won’t be boring!”
