Cameron Twynham was delighted with his and the MOMO-Megatron Team PARTRAX entries performance at his home Porsche Mobil1 Supercup round, even though a gearbox issue ultimately masked the combinations true pace at Silverstone.
After accumulating knowledge of how the Type 991 machine behaved at the daunting venue, Twynham was hopeful his qualifying maladies had been solved. Ultimately, the result was a disappointing twenty first.
Honest as ever, the single-seater convert comments “Starting that far back in the pack means we’re right in the thick of it from the off, which is great for honing my race-craft but not ideal when trying to make progress towards the top-10, which is where we’re aiming for during my maiden season of GT racing.”
In the race, a nineteenth place finish deceives Twynham’s true ability, he was hassling the Carrera Cup GB runners until a most unfortunate gearbox issue saw him struggle to maintain pace. Amazingly the youngster only lost three positions due to the issue, a tremendous effort.
Looking ahead to the Hungaroring in three week’s time, Twynham finishes on a positive note, adding “I always went well there in F3 and feel like we learned a lot at Silverstone, so I’m looking forward to round five.”
