Le Mans Winner Earl Bamber to race GTE Porsche

1 Mins read

2015 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Earl Bamber will join Abu Dhabi Proton Racing for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s visit to the Nürburgring later this month (August 28-30).

The New Zealander will partner Khaled al Qubaisi and Christian Ried in the #88 Porsche 911 RSR, competing in the GTE-Am class.

Bamber effectively replaces Austrian driver Klaus Bachler who will be fulfilling ADAC GT Masters commitments at the Sachsenring on the same weekend.

The Nürburgring race will mark Bamber’s first GT appearance in the FIA World Endurance Championship, having made two starts for Porsche’s LMP1 division at Spa and Le Mans this year. His current GT schedule is centred on the German manufacturer’s United Sportscar Championship campaign, which continues this weekend at Virginia International Raceway.
