Max Verstappen: “The P4 in Hungary gives us extra motivation”

1 Mins read

Max Verstappen’s rookie season continues this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, with the Dutch teenager riding high after his best finish of the season last time out in Hungary when he finished a seasons-high fourth.

The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver was delighted with his performance at the Hungaroring, but feels the team will struggle to match the highs they experience last month in Belgium this weekend.

“The Hungaroring was clearly a good track for us from a performance and point-scoring point of view,” said Verstappen.

“Spa will be much harder as it doesn’t suit our car that well, but we will make sure we work hard to achieve the best result possible. The P4 in Hungary definitely gives us all extra motivation!”

Verstappen has happy memories of his previous appearances at Spa-Francorchamps, having dominated the FIA European Formula 3 Championship event at the circuit in 2014, and was confirmed as a Toro Rosso driver for this season at last year’s Belgian round.

“I raced there last year during my F3 season and we won all three races that weekend, it felt great!” insisted Verstappen. “Hopefully we can score some more points and continue with our good performances in Spa!

“It’s such an amazing track to drive, it’s unique! It has some very challenging and fun corners, like Eau Rouge, and the home crowd just make it even more special. I am really looking forward to the weekend ahead.”
