COTA 1-2 Start for Porsche

Neel Jani and Romain Dumas‘ qualifying times for the 2015 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas puts their #18 Porsche 919 Hybrid on pole for Saturday’s race.

With a combined qualifying time of 1:46.211, Jani, Dumas and Marc Lieb will begin the race from pole position, ahead of the sister #17 Porsche of Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley. The second row is held by the #8 and #7 Audis, and row three contains the two Toyotas, #1 ahead of #2.

The best of the non-hybrid LMP1 entries is the #12 Rebellion Racing car of Nico Prost, Mathias Beche and Nick Heidfeld, who share the fourth row with their team-mates in the #13 Rebellion R-One – AER. Finally, the Team ByKolles entry will start from ninth.

The best of the LMP2 runners was KCMG, who set a combined 1:56.834 with Matt Howson and Richard Bradley behind the wheel of the #47 Oreca 05 – Nissan. Up next were the two G-Drive Racing entries, with the #26 ahead of the #28. Extreme Speed Motorsports complete the top four with their #30 Ligier JS P2 – HPD.

Up front in LMGTE Pro, with an average qualifying time of 2:05.872, are Alex MacDowall, Fernando Rees and Richie Stanaway, driving the #99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8. Joining them at the front of the GT field is the #91 Porsche Team Manthey 911 RSR, before the #97 and #95 Aston Martins.

It was Dempsey-Proton Racing leading the LMGTE Am pack, with a 2:08.085 courtesy of Patrick Long and Patrick Dempsey. Joined by Marco Seefried, they will start on the front row of their class, and 25th overall. The two GTE Am Aston Martins, the #96 and #98, start from second and fourth respectively, with the #83 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia between them.
