Gigi Galli brings Kia Rio Supercar to World Rallycross

1 Mins read

Former FIA World Rally Championship driver Gigi Galli is set to return to the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy for the upcoming World RX of Italy (16-18 October), bringing with him the the all-new Kia Rio Supercar.

Galli took part in the 2014 World RX round in Italy, narrowly missing out on a spot in the final and for this year has created his own RX team backed by Castrol EDGE.

The new team also brings a new car to the series in the shape of the Kia Rio Supercar.

“I’m delighted to be back in World RX,” explained Galli. “My supporters have been pushing for this to happen and combined with my endless passion for racing it has finally happened. I am especially excited about creating a brand new team and car plus it’s great to also have Giovanni [Bernacchini] by my side.”

Giovanni Bernacchini is Galli’s former co-driver from his rallying days and will join the team as a key member.

“We will introduce ourselves at the Italian World RX round at Franciacorta next month. Our aim is not to win, it would be foolish to think we could do that straightaway – we simply want to demonstrate how hard we have worked so far.”
