Romain Grosjean’s expected departure from the Lotus F1 Team at the conclusion of 2015 will be a loss to the Enstone-based team, according to Trackside Operations chief Alan Permane.
Grosjean is in his fourth season with the team, but is expected to depart after the round in Abu Dhabi in November, and is expected to be announced as part of the new Haas F1 Team line-up this week.
Speaking after Grosjean’s seventh place finish in Japan, Permane admitted that the Frenchman’s experience would be an asset to any team, especially after his performance around Suzuka.
“I couldn’t have asked for more from him,” said Permane to Autosport. “He qualified well and raced perfectly.
“If he is going, which I am assuming he is, of course he will be a loss. He would be an asset to any team with his experience – and he’s quick. So yeah, he will be a loss.
“He fits in very well, he’s been here a long time so that has made things an awful lot easier – and that is not to be underestimated.”
