Solberg Ready To Fight In Loheac

1 Mins read

2014 FIA World Rallycross Champion and 2015 Championship leader Petter Solberg is ready to fight in Loheac for the French round of this year’s WorldRX.

Solberg leads the Championship and has done since his victory at Hockenheim, but in a rare change of fortune he has missed making the progression from the Semi-Finals to the Final in the last two events. In Canada he missed the cut after contact with Team Peugeot-Hansen driver Timmy Hansen in the Semi-Final whilst in Norway he missed out after contact with Ford OMSE‘s Timer Timurzyanov in the second Semi-Final.

However the SDRX driver is now ready to work hard to defend his championship lead and use the same tactics as his competitors.

“Seriously, I’m taking the gloves off. I understand now that the rules of this game are a little bit different. A nudge here, a tap there is part of the game, so I’ve spent the last few weeks thinking about my game plan and it’s time to toughen up a little bit,” explained Solberg.

“I want my third FIA World Championship, I’m desperate for it and I now understand I’m going to have to fight for it. I’m ready for that fight; it’s time to show some teeth.”

Meanwhile Solberg believes that Loheac is the best place to begin this new defence tactic after two WorldRX weekends with no Supercar Final appearance.

“Lohéac is one of the best and most natural circuits of the season. It really flows nicely, it’s a great place to push hard and attack – especially the joker lap, which is so fast and with a nice jump. The support in France was huge last year, with so many fans it was unbelievable. And winning in front of a crowd like that was even more unbelievable!”
