Sven Müller led the Friday practice session ahead of the final two rounds of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup at the Circuit of the Americas, in a session that could well be a substitute for qualifying.
Müller headed Kuba Giermaziak of the VERVA variation of the Lechner Racing Team by nigh on four tenths of a second, with Spaniard Alex Riberas in The Heart of Racing by Lechner run car third.
Seventeen point series leader Philipp Eng was fifth for Team Project 1 and the inclement weather this weekend means this potentially crucial session could give Eng a lot of work to do in the remaining races.
Michael Ammermüller was a solitary position ahead of Eng in practice but will need much more to steal the title as he sits thirty-one points off the series leader. The man second in the standings Christian Engelhart couldn’t drag his MRS-GT Racing car beyond seventh.
We conclude with the Brits, taking to the water like… well ducks to water. Paul Rees was the standout in seventh and he lead MOMO-Megatron Team PARTRAX teammate Ben Barker (seventeenth) and VERVA Lechner man Ryan Cullen in eighteenth.
The schedule for the US Grand Prix remains in a state of limbo due to inclement weather. It really does look like a practice session could decide the fate of our title battlers in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup.
