Team Peugeot-Hansen will arrive at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy, ready to fight its rivals hard as they look to seal the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Teams’ Championship this weekend.
The Franco-Swedish outfit have taken five wins in the 2015 WorldRX season and the Italian venue was the scene of their first ever win with the Peugeot 208 WRX and they’re looking to extend their advantage further with the latest version of the 208.
Last time out in Turkey, Timmy Hansen scored his third win of the year at the Istanbul Park circuit after being fastest on day one of the event and then surviving a titanic battle with Ford OMSE driver Andreas Bakkerud in a repeat of their 2014 battle where Bakkerud triumphed. With team-mate Davy Jeanney also having claimed two wins in his first year of WorldRX, the team looks set to seal its first Teams’ Championship but the squad knows there is a hard weekend ahead them.
With Ford OMSE, SDRX, EKSRX and Volkswagen Team Sweden all showing improvement in the recent events, Team Principal Kenneth Hansen has laid out the plan clearly: “Franciacorta is a venue where we have already won in the past but the recent round in Istanbul showed that the competition is fiercer than ever. Our aim will be to adapt the set-up of our 2015-spec car to the new version of the track as quickly as possible. That’s where our main focus will be,” explains Hansen.
“We are obviously aware that the Teams’ title could be settled in our favour in Italy but we will try not to think about it. We just want to get on with trying to be as competitive as possible on the day.”
With Petter Solberg retiring from the Semi-Finals in Turkey, Timmy Hansen closed within 19 points of the Drivers Championship leader and he will be looking to reduce that margin further in Italy.
