Matthieu Vaxiviere set the pace for the new Spirit of Race team on day two of the Formula 3.5 V8 test at the Circuito de Jerez on Wednesday.

The Frenchman, who finished second in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series standings in 2015, set a time of 1m27.331s, three-tenths of a second faster than anyone else for the Spirit of Race team that are taking over the entry run by International Draco Racing this season.

Yu Kanamaru, who was fastest on the opening day on Tuesday, was second fastest on Wednesday for Pons Racing, just ahead of team-mate Matevos Isaakyan, while Jake Hughes of Strakka Racing placed fourth ahead of Louis Deletraz, who was running again with Fortec Motorsports.

Marvin Kirchhöfer ended the day sixth fastest for AVF ahead of team-mate Alfonso Celis Jr, while Egor Orudzhev and 2015 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series champion Jack Aitken were eighth and ninth for Arden Motorsport with George Russell completing the top ten for Strakka Racing.

All of the drivers set their best times in the morning session, with seventeen drivers getting out on track with only Slovakian racer Richard Gonda missing from those who tested on Tuesday.
