Max Verstappen: Brazil “will suit our car better than in Mexico”

1 Mins read

Max Verstappen feels the Interlagos circuit should suit his Scuderia Toro Rosso team more this weekend than the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez did in Mexico two weeks ago as the team try and take the fight to the Lotus F1 Team for sixth position in the Constructors’ championship.

The Dutch teenager could only finish ninth in Mexico, but feels the team should have a stronger weekend in Brazil, and recalls his first visit to the circuit with the team in 2014 where he ran his third free practice session of the year.

“I really enjoyed it there last year during FP1 – it was only my third F1 outing of my career and I remember feeling much more confident than the previous two,” revealed Verstappen, who had also ran in the opening practice sessions in Japan and the United States.

“The track layout is very nice to drive, it’s certainly become one of my favourites and I’m really looking forward to going there again!

“Even if there’s a long straight, it will suit our car a bit better than in Mexico, which is good, as now we are only six points behind Lotus and we need to close the gap a bit more and continue fighting for that sixth position in the Championship! It’s also special because it’s anticlockwise, and so it’s another challenge for us.”
