Max Verstappen: “I think P9 is the best we could do”

1 Mins read

Max Verstappen finished ninth during the Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Sunday, but bemoaned some heating issues that cost him some time and possibly a top six finish.

The Scuderia Toro Rosso had made a good start to be running inside the top six, but lost out to Felipe Massa and the two Sahara Force India drivers, but remained positive about closing the gap in the Constructor’s championship to the sixth placed Lotus team.

“I had a good start and to be running in P6 during my first stint was great, but we had some heating issues, which definitely cost us a lot of lap time unfortunately,” said Verstappen.

“But we need to focus on the positives, I think P9 is the best we could do today and I’m happy to have scored some more points, closing the gap to Lotus a bit more.

“The atmosphere here has been amazing during all of the weekend – the fans here are really into racing and are so enthusiastic, it’s just amazing to see!”
