Hawkey Steps Up To GT Cup In New Cayman

1 Mins read

Former Ginetta Junior Championship racer Esmee Hawkey will compete in the GT Cup next season with the GT Marques outfit.

The 17 year old makes the move after competing in the BTCC support championship for fifteen months, having made her debut at Rockingham in September 2014.

Competing with JHR Developments this season, she picked up eight top twenty finishes in sixteen races, securing her best results at Oulton Park with a pair of fourteenth places.

Hawkey joins a GT Marques team that have extensive experience competing with Porsche machinery, having raced 911’s for over a decade in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and other series.

The 3.8 litre, 385bhp Cayman GT4 Clubsport was unveiled at the LA Motor Show last month ahead of its motorsport debut next season, with at least four models set to appear in British GT.

Hawkey announced the news on Twitter:

The 2016 GT Cup will take place over 23 rounds across eight race weekends, visiting Donington Park, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Rockingham, Oulton Park and Snetterton.
