eSports WRC Championship ready for début season

1 Mins read

The inaugural eSports WRC Championship is set to get under way next week during the FIA World Rally Championship season-opening event at Rallye Monte-Carlo.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC players will be able to take on the La Salle en Beaumont – Corps test in the championships official game WRC5* in a bid to make it through to the semi-finals in Rally Italia Sardegna and RallyRACC before moving on to the final at Wales Rally GB.

“The response from the gaming community since we announced the eSports WRC Championship in December has been overwhelming,” said WRC Promoter managing director Oliver Ciesla.

“The hot atmosphere and pressure felt by drivers in the cockpit of a World Rally Car will be replicated by gamers at the controls of their consoles. They, too, will be fighting for the tenths of a second that make the difference between winning a world title and being an also-ran.” he added.

The season will be split in to two halves, with the first five rallies being eligible for the semi-final and the following five rallies eligible for the second semi-final.
