Fittipaldi steps up into Formula V8 3.5 with Fortec

1 Mins read

Pietro Fittipaldi will continue his association with Fortec Motorsports into 2016 and will move into the Formula V8 3.5 series with the squad.

The Brazilian steps up having raced for Fortec in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship in 2015, and will join Louis Deletraz in the all-new line-up for 2016, replacing last year’s champion Oliver Rowland and Malaysian star Jazeman Jaafar.

“Our relationship with Pietro got stronger and stronger over last season,” said Fortec Motorsports’ managing director Jamie Dye to Autosport. “It is very difficult for anyone to go into Formula 3, which I think you can appreciate was very competitive last year, after just a year in Renault BARC.

“We made some developments and improvements on the F3 car through the year, and Pietro also grew. He has been doing a lot of training, he made a good test in FR3.5 with DAMS in 2014, and had another good outing with Carlin at the end of last year.”

Fittipaldi will hopefully head into the 2016 season with another title under his belt, with the Grandson of two-times Formula 1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi hoping to add the MRF Series title to his 2014 Protyre Formula Renault crown.

“I am very pleased to continue working with Fortec in this new chapter of my career,” said Fittipaldi. “The championship will be very competitive, so I know that it’s going to be a big challenge.

“I am confident that we will have a strong package, but we will have to work hard in order to run at the front right from the beginning.”
