Kubica pulls out of Rally Sweden

1 Mins read

Polish rally driver Robert Kubica’s season in the World Rally Championship could well be over after the Ford Fiesta WRC driver announced that he will not contest the second round of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship, Rally Sweden.

“I’m sorry that I have to confirm that we will not participate in this year’s Rally Sweden.” said the Pole on Facebook earlier this evening and the status  seems to confirm reports that Rallye Monte Carlo would be his only WRC appearance this season and indeed could bring to an end his WRC career.

Although Kubica admitted that he only had the budget to contest Monte Carlo there was hope that the necessary financial backing could be found for the Pole to continue the season.

Kubica has been contesting the World Rally Championship on a regular basis since 2013 winning the WRC2 category in the same year. His final event in Monte Carlo last weekend ended when slid off the road and into a tree on stage three.

Rally Sweden will stat on February 11.
