Lidsey Brothers Join New Team For 2016 Clio Series

1 Mins read

Brett and Tyler Lidsey will team up at new outfit MRM for the 2016 Michelin Clio Cup Series, with Tyler stepping up to the headline Race class alongside his brother.

The Kent-based duo make the move across from 20Ten Racing, with whom they both raced in the tin-top championship last year.

Brett firmly established himself at the head of the field in his second season, with five podium finishes, including a best of second place, securing him a top five championship finish.

Tyler meanwhile made strong progress in the Road category in his maiden campaign, with a breakthrough double victory at Croft putting him on his way to third in the standings.

The new team is run by former 20Ten mechanic Mike Ritchie, with the Lidsey’s feeling their existing relationship will bode them well for the season ahead.

“We sat down and looked at the options and found that with our budget and the racing being so close and challenging in 2015, the Clio series can only get better,” said Brett.

“We looked at the UK Clio Cup, but the budget just wasn’t there, so we decided to stick with what we know, and with how well Tyler did last season, it was a no brainier for him to move up to the race class.

“It was tough to leave 20Ten as they were a big part of our great results of 2015, but Mike wanted to run his own team and we all feel that having a mechanic that already knows how we drive can only mean better results for 2016.

“Getting on the podium is definitely the target for both of us, but for me personally I want to win races. I have come close on many occasions, so this year it’s happening!”
