Force India will unveil VJM09 in Barcelona pitlane

1 Mins read

Sahara Force India have confirmed that they will unveil their 2016 challenger just moments before the start of the first pre-season test on Monday.

The Silverstone-based outfit joins a majority of Formula 1 teams deciding not have an official launch before pre-season testing this season, preferring instead to spend more time developing their new challenger. Force India’s VJM09 will break cover on Monday morning at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona.

It is a much better scenario for the Silverstone-based team than in 2015 however when Force India were forced to delay the introduction of its VJM08 until the final pre-season test.  The team enjoyed their best season ever last year, finishing fifth in the championship, largely down to the introduction of a B-specification VJM08 at Silverstone.

Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren-Honda are the only teams to reveal their cars in online launches prior to pre-season testing on Monday. With Red Bull Racing planning on unveiling its 2016 livery at an event in London on Wednesday, their 2016 challenger will be revealed next week.
