Kevin Magnussen: “Everything felt good straight away”

1 Mins read

Kevin Magnussen took to the racetrack for the first time since leaving the McLaren-Honda team during the 2015 season as he got his first taste of the Renault RS16 at the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday.

After seeing team-mate Jolyon Palmer have two relatively troubled days in the car, Magnussen was able to complete a good number of laps and set the fourth fastest time of the day in Spain.

The Dane completed 111 laps, and hopes to continue the positive work achieved on Wednesday when he returns to the car for the final day of the first test on Thursday.

“It’s fantastic to get back in a Formula 1 car after eleven months away,” said Magnussen, who set a best time of 1m26.014s on Wednesday. “Everything felt good straight away and it was great to be working with the team for the first time behind the wheel.

“We completed a lot of laps which is a real positive and I can’t wait to jump in the car tomorrow and continue today’s work.”
