Kevin Magnussen: “It feels so good to be back in an F1 car”

1 Mins read

Kevin Magnussen completed a day-high 153 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya to end the first pre-season test, with his time of 1m25.263s good enough to see him finish fourth fastest on Thursday.

The Renault driver completed a race simulation for the first time, but ended his day stopped on track with little over fifteen minutes remaining.

After being test driver for McLaren-Honda in 2015, Magnussen was happy to be back in the car these past two days, and admitted he cannot wait to get back into the car during the second pre-season test at the circuit next week.

“I certainly have had a workout over the last couple of days with over 260 laps completed!” said Magnussen. “It feels so good to be back in an F1 car and working through the programme and making strong progress.

“Our race simulation went well and I’m really gelling with the team; it’s a real pleasure to be driving here and I can’t wait to get back in the car on Tuesday.”

Magnussen will be back in the car for the first two days of the second test that begins on March 1, with team-mate Jolyon Palmer taking over for the final two days.
