Scuderia Toro Rosso and Max Verstappen finished the fourth and final day of the first pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya in fifth just behind Renault, achieving their best position of the week.
Verstappen completed 110 laps behind the wheel of the STR10 at the Circuit de Catalunya, with a fastest lap time of 1m25.393s, which was also their quickest time over the first pre-season testing. The Dutch logged over 230 laps for Toro Rosso more than team-mate Carlos Sainz Jr.
Testing in Barcelona has given Verstappen confidence in the car and is looking to forward to continue the hard work into the second pre-season testing in Barcelona next week.
“Today was another good day, we managed to do a lot of laps, especially in the morning,” said Verstappen. “We are understanding the car more and more and I think it all worked out well. The car is behaving well, so we can be happy.
“This first test has definitely given me confidence in the car. It was important to run as much as possible and we’ve certainly achieved this goal! I look forward to next week’s test where we will continue to work as hard as this week.”
