Kevin Magnussen: “I can’t wait for Melbourne”

1 Mins read

Kevin Magnussen completed 126 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday to end his pre-season testing programme with his new Renault Sport F1 team, and is ready to get racing later this month in Australia.

The young Dane completed four days of running more than 100 laps of the Spanish circuit, and admitted he could not have asked for better reliability during his time in car, and feels positive about the RS16 after ending the day third quickest.

“It’s been a positive pre-season of testing for me and I couldn’t have wanted much more from the team,” said Magnussen. “I’ve enjoyed four reliable test days with over 100 laps completed on each day.

“The car does feel good and we know what we want from it: more power and more downforce – which is what every race driver wants from his race car! Importantly, we have a good balance and a car that’s nice to drive.

“The reliability we’ve seen is a bonus as we head to the first race of the season and for me it’s been a real pleasure working with my new team. I can’t wait for Melbourne.”

Jolyon Palmer will take over for the final two days of the test.
