Nico Rosberg: “It’s all working to plan”

1 Mins read

Nico Rosberg led the way on day one of the second pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya on Tuesday, and admitted his Mercedes AMG PETRONAS team are making good progress with their W07.

The German was forced to share the day’s running with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, with Rosberg taking the morning duties, completing 82 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya and setting a best time of 1m23.022s on the Pirelli Soft compound, the first time Mercedes have used anything other than the Medium tyre.

Rosberg was happy to complete some qualifying simulation, and feels everything is going to plan so far during pre-season testing.

“It was a decent morning and we’re making progress,” said Rosberg. “It was nice for me to be able to push some more and produce some stronger lap times.

“We were doing qualifying practice this morning – it’s important to practise that as well. And that’s when it’s all the more enjoyable; taking the car to the limit and really pushing.

“It’s been a good test, reliability has been good, the speed has been there – it’s all working to plan.”
