Pirelli have confirmed the compounds they will bring to the eighth round of the 2016 Formula 1 season, the first Grand Prix ever to take place in Azerbaijan.
The three choices are Supersoft, Soft and Medium for the Grand Prix of Europe that will take place in June. The Italian tyre manufacturer have said that one set of Soft and one set of Medium must both be available to each driver for the race, they must use at least one of them.
Following the changes in regulations ahead of the new season, each driver must save for the final part of qualifying (Q3) one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds, this being Supersoft for the new Baku street circuit. After Q3 those who qualify in the top 10 will give this set back to Pirelli with the remaining drivers keeping the compound for the race.
Each team are free to choose the remaining sets for their drivers to make up thirteen sets in total that Pirelli will provide for each Grand Prix weekend.
