Yu Kanamaru: “I think we’re in good shape”

1 Mins read

Yu Kanamaru was cautious despite setting the best time of the Formula V8 3.5 Series pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya for Teo Martin Motorsport.

The Japanese racer, who is stepping up to the series full time in 2016 following a handful of races in the championships previous incarnation, Formula Renault 3.5, with Pons Racing last year, believes the team are in good shape at present, with just one more pre-season test to come at Motorland Aragon next month, but feels that other teams may not yet have showed their true speed on track.

Kanamaru revealed that the time of 1m29.571s set during the morning session on day two in Spain was his last chance to set a good time due to it being the last set of new tyres the team had for his #25 car.

“Basically we all set of new tyres this morning but we had to waste one because of the red flags so basically we had one new tyre and one chance,” said Kanamaru.

“We managed to put it everything together and get the first place and the fastest time of the two days.

“I think we’re in good shape for Motorland and we have to see how the other teams gonna catch up so we have to keep pushing”.
