Cammish Continues Championship Charge with Silverstone Victory

1 Mins read

Dan Cammish was victorious for Redline Racing in the opening Porsche Carrera Cup GB race of the weekend at Silverstone.

The reigning champion led from lights to flag to best Dino Zamparelli (GT Marques), with Charlie Eastwood an impressive third in the second Redline entry. The result marks Eastwood’s first podium in the championship as the 2016/2017 Porsche Scholar.

Tom Sharp’s race victory hopes ended for IDL Racing before they had even began when he was forced to switch from wets to slicks at the end of the formation lap. A tremendous fight back meant he secured seventh.

In Pro-Am1, In2Racing and the McKay paring were in control, with Euan leading Dan. Sean Hudspeth was third in class and eleventh overall for Parr Motorsport. Only two places further back was Tautvydas Barstys, the impressive victor of the Pro-Am2 class for Juta Racing. Behind him was was Barrie Baxter (Redline Racing) and behind Baxter was guest Pro-Am2 entry Graeme Mundy (In2Racing), utilising his Grand Prix circuit experience from the Mobil1 Supercup round in 2014.

A weekend thus far marred by tricky conditions, the lack of incident throughout the race is a reflection of the commendable driving standards throughout the field. Drivers and teams will be hoping the finale at 09:10am tomorrow morning will be dry. Should that be the case, expect some spectacular action.
