Louis Deletraz set the pace on the final day of pre-season testing as the Formula V8 3.5 Series teams did their final preparations ahead of next weekend’s opening round of the season at Motorland Aragon.

The Swiss driver, who is racing for Fortec Motorsports having stepped up from Formula Renault 2.0 where he won the NEC championship in 2015 and finished runner-up in Eurocup, set the best time of 1m40.235s during the morning session, which unlike on day one was the quicker of the two sessions.

Day one pacesetter Egor Orudzhev continued his strong Aragon pace with the second fastest time, with the Arden Motorsport driver just 0.111s shy of Deletraz, while Frenchman Matthieu Vaxiviere ended the day third quickest for SMP Racing, a further 0.232s back of Orudzhev.

Pietro Fittipaldi placed the second Fortec machine into fourth but stopped on track during the afternoon session, necessitating in a red flag to recover the #2 car, but the Brazilian was one of six drivers to set a time beneath 1m41s on Sunday.

Frenchmen Tom Dillmann and Aurélien Panis were the final two drivers to set a time beneath 1m41s, with the AVF driver setting a time of 1m40.813s and the Arden driver a time of 1m40.950s.

Yu Kanamaru and Beitske Visser were seventh and eighth respectively for Teo Martin Motorsport, with the Lotus duo of Roy Nissany and Rene Binder following in ninth and tenth.

There were separate red flags during the morning session to recover the AVF of Alfonso Celis Jr, the RP Motorsport entry of Vitor Baptista and the Durango of Giuseppe Cipriani all stopped on track.

Dillmann was the fastest driver in the slower afternoon session with a 1m41.294s, with Nissany, Orudzhev, SMP Racing’s Matevos Isaakyan and Kanamaru filling out the top five.

The teams and drivers will now reconvene at the same circuit next weekend for the season opening round of the season.
