2016 World RX Of Portugal Entry List Revealed

The entry list for the first round of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship has been released, showing 23 Supercar entries and 33 Super1600 entries for the World RX Of Portugal.

Along with the 17 permanent drivers entered for the whole championship, they will be joined by both of the Peugeot-Hansen Academy drivers of Davy Jeanney and 2015 RX Lites Champion Kevin Hansen who are driving Peugeot 208’s. Reigning Andros Trophy Champion Jean-Baptiste Dubourg will make his first 2016 World RX appearance in his new Citroen DS3 Supercar whilst local driver Joaquim Santos will drive a Ford Focus at his home event.

World RX Team Austria will field three Ford Fiesta’s with regular drivers Janis Baumanis and Timur Timerzyanov being joined by Team Principle Max Pucher, who will contest the FIA European Rallycross Championship this year. Finally Polish driver Bohdan Ludwiczak will return to Rallycross action in his Mitsubishi Lancer.

In the Super1600 Catergory, Ulrik Linnemann will start as favourite however there are 32 other drivers looking to try and stop him in Portugal. Linnemann Motorsport are running two Peugeot 208 S1600’s this year as Daniel Nielsen joins the team full time. Artis Baumanis will also be on the hunt for the title as he returns with the all conquering Set Promotion team which runs three Renault Twingo’s for Baumanis, Timur Shigabutdinov and Magnus Bergsjobrenden. British interests are represented by 2015 British Super1600 Rallycross Champion Craig Lomax in his Citroen C2 along with British RX Super1600 regulars Michael Boak and Phil Chicken in their respective Citroen C2’s.

The first round of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship takes place at Montalegre in Portugal on 15-17 April.
