Ferrucci admits to learning focus within Haas F1 role

1 Mins read

Haas F1 Team development driver Santino Ferrucci has admitted that his main aspiration while a part of the team is to learn about Formula 1 and to be ready should he get an opportunity to run in the VF-16.

The seventeen-year-old American was signed to the Haas team in March, and will combine his Formula 1 learning with a campaign in the GP3 Series with DAMS, and when asked about his influence within the team, he admitted that his focus was on learning rather than developing the car.

“Not too much, I’m more just here to learn,” admitted Ferrucci to GPUpdate.net. “Guenther [Steiner] is looking over me quite a lot just to reinforce everything, making sure that if I do get a chance to drive in the car I know exactly what I’m doing and what to look for.

“It’s been very good, I’ve been learning a lot, just enjoying my time here, it’s good to check out what they’re doing and see what differences there are to GP3.

“With Haas [the goal] is just to learn with them, hopefully drive the car and see what to do, work with the engineers and find a spot with the team.”
